I developed Palette Studio while researching color contrast and Section 508 compliance for an article. The concept here is to use a brand’s primary color and find 508 compliant color relationships in a harmonized palette.
The application currently supports five color harmonies.
- monochromatic
- complementary
- split-complementary
- triadic
- tetradic
Additional harmonies may be added later.
The generated colors include WCAG contrast data and other evaluatable accessibility information to help refine choices during the design process.
The Examples tab allows designers to examine color themes in a simple interface, making it easier to evaluate color relationships, hierarchy, and contrast before implementation.
The Table / Copy tab includes CSS variables, JSON, HEX, and RGB values. The palettes can also be downloaded as SVG or JPG swatch sheets and sampled directly with an eyedropper tool. Accessibility data is included where supported. HEX and RGB exports contain only color values to keep the output clean and easy to use.
